How do i take care Internally after birth?

Internally care is commonly neglected compared to externally care. However, internally care is equally important. Some of the concerns are

  • Blood clots in the womb
  • Water retention
  • "Wind"
  • Body or Backache
  • Body Chills
  • Tiredness

Have proper confinement diet

Confinement food is very important as it helps our body to replenish the lost nutrients during labour. Most people are particular about their food nutrients intake during pregnancy but often neglect or do not emphasis on confinement food. In fact having proper diet helped the mother recover faster and also to be able to provide the necessary nutrients for the baby. Regardless of which race or nationality you may be, I like to share some of my confinement food recipes that you can try.

Have a massage

As woman are more educated compared to our mother's time. Postnatal Massage is consider one of the essential after birth. Although getting back in shape may be one of the concerns, but the health benefits it provides had became one of the main reason for having a postnatal massage. It focus mainly on healing of the inner body like unknot tight and tense muscles  or backaches, get rid of blood clots left in the womb, helps in blood circulation as well as external care like tighten of the stomach muscles and helping to shrink the tummy. Rest

Rest is often mentioned for mothers during confinement. My mother used to nag at me to rest and do not try to be superwoman. I admit I was like a superwoman during my 1st confinement. I was washing, sterilizing the pumps and bottles, bathing my baby, changing diapers, total night feeds and more. I was lacked of sleep and the word " Rest" didnt really happen. Compared to my 2nd confinement, i was really catching any rest time possible when my baby was asleep. I finally realised the difference why REST is so important. (I do not mean to have 8 hr of sleep because it is never possible with a baby). I felt more energetic even when i have to wake up for night feeds. Try to take many short naps and listen to your body.

The 30 days confinement period is definately an important time for the new mum. Proper care can benefit you in the long run. Through my own experiences, my frequent headaches and sinus problems were less occurring after my 2nd confinement. I was really surprised because i have these problems for years. Now i do not find my mum's nagging a chore  when she insist that i take care of myself properly after birth, because i know she wants the best for me.
